Voices from the House

Why We Built This House
By Brandy Sims, Founder of Elizabeth House Foundation

When I founded the Elizabeth House Foundation, I did it with one voice in my heart—my mother’s.

Ruth Elizabeth was more than my mom. She was my role model, my compass, and my constant reminder that strength often wears a gentle face. When she battled breast cancer, I saw up close the importance of early detection, accessible care, and community support. But I also saw how many women—especially Black and underserved women—don’t have access to those lifesaving essentials.

That’s where the Elizabeth House journey began. Not in a boardroom or on a whiteboard, but in grief transformed into purpose.

A House Built on Hope
Elizabeth House isn’t made of bricks and mortar—it’s built on the stories of women who deserve more. More access. More answers. More advocates. Every mammogram we provide, every event we host, and every woman we reach is part of a greater mission: to make breast health equity a reality, not a privilege.

Our programs go beyond clinical care. We host nutrition classes to prevent chronic illnesses. We plant gardens that feed neighborhoods. We build confidence through education and connection. And we do it all with love, dignity, and cultural awareness.

The Power of One Voice
